first id like to say
i have two daughters…
and Id like to keep it that way
anything else is unacceptable
now,
in case theres any doubts as to the severity of our situation…
I’m going to quote eliabeths’ progress note from the hemotologist

“...this itself is not a lethal clot but has contributed to a whole series of other complications and collectively has setup a declining chance for survival …lovenox may not be adequate”
now, here is her current list of medications
copied from her chart
and the dates they started or restarted
- fentanyl – pain killer (narcotic) [started 05.4.2007]
- furosemide – alleviates her edema [started 05.30.2007]
- ursodiol – cleans out the sludge that has developed in her liver [started 06.06.2007]
- methadone – to wean her from the fentanyl [started 06.14.2007]
- potassium chloride – to prevent hypokalmia [started 06.09.2007]
- lovenox – blood thinner used to treat blood clots [re-started 06.15.2007]
- vancomycin – antibiotic [restarted 06.17.2007]
- gentamicin – antibiotic [restarted 06.17.2007]
this doesnt include the paralytic they gave her a few doses of the other day to keep her from breathing over the HFOV
in case im not being clear enough
this clot is so close to her heart…
that if it dislodges during the course of her lovenox treatment
[which is 12weeks of subq injections, 2daily]
it will most certainly travel to her lungs or her heart
and potentially kill her within 24 hours.
we are having an unfathomably bad week.
it helps that we are made of nails
but not much
because when left to weather
eventually
nails rust
