its been a rough couple of days for all of us
i apologize for the lack of phone calls and updates
i had to wait for my cell phone plan to roll into the new month
very expensive cell phone month april was
the update:
Elizabeth
has been doing really well at dividing her time between doing fine
and back sliding and crashing
each time it gets harder for them to bring her back from it
shes VERY sensitive to sound light
the slightest change sets her off
and swollen
yesterday alyssa was there all day
things were looking positive
by the time we got there last night (1am)
she had crashed pretty bad
and one of her lungs was completely solidified
needless to say
we walked into a flurry of activity
the doctor
the respiratory therapist
extra nurses
not a good sign
the end result was that they added just about everything they had just taken her off of earlier that day
the nictrous oxide the dopamine the blood pressure medicine
the difference this time is they switched her from the hifi to the standard vent.
she seems to be stabilizing
but by now we realize our expectations don’t mean anything
so now that we’ve covered the drama queen
lets move on
Amelia
is doing fine
they upped her feeding again
shes now getting 22ccs ever 3 hours
(i should really start keeping track of this)
i finally got to kangaroo her last night
which probably the most amazing thing so far for me
Alyssa got to kangaroo her as well today before
they took her off the ventilator and moved her to the nasal cpap
hopefully she’ll stay that way
but again
our expectations are meaningless
btw i cant wait until we can do this with elizabeth
theres alot more information
but its late
and i forget most of it by the time we get home
we just try to cope with the overwhelming sense of dread
once we leave
