i cannot stress how hard this whole thing has been so far
the longer it goes on the harder it gets to deal with
the more frustrated alyssa and i get
with the doctors and the nurses
and the whole situation
cuz
our hands are tied
and theres nothing we can really do
to help

now that ive bitched and moaned
heres the update

amelia:
has now developed chronic lung disease as a result of her prematurity and the ventilators. her infection is slowly creeping away but she high-sats constantly. shes up to 20cc’s every 4 hours which is about the max they can give her which is the only positive news on her front.

elizabeth:
this girl wants to send us to an early grave apparently.
they took her off the nictrous oxide and the dopamine last night she was coasting along,
that is
until we got there.
last night at about 2am,
she stopped breathing and they had to intervene.
meaning they had to bag her and force her to breath.
(medical shows have so lost their flavor FOREVER) this was only the beginning apparently as she then crashed again at 4. at which point they changed her trach tube
hooked her back up to everything they had just taken her off of.
they are withholding her feedings until shes more stable
which all signs pointed to today…

the irony of this situation is
before we left last night
we said “call us if anything significant happens”
did we get a phone call?
no.
on top of that
the doctor who gave us the update didn’t even know about the 2am incident

wits meet the end.
