Elizabeth’s surgery went well
she made it through ok
didn’t loose a lot of blood etc

still no word on the possibility of vocal paralysis
thats gonna take awhile to figure out cuz of the ventilators

however
last night at one am
her condition took a serious turn for the worse
they hooked her back up to the high volume ventilator [to breath for her]
started her on nitrous oxide [to keep her lungs open]
gave her dopamine [to help the oxygen from the ventilator bond to her lungs]
upped her pain meds gave her more antibiotics
and gave her blood pressure medicine to keep her blood pumping

the good news though is
shes considerably more stable as of 2pm saturday
than she was last night at 1am friday night
they’ve stopped the blood pressure medicine [which we’re told is an excellent sign]
and are slowly weening her down on the ventilator settings
which is directly dependant upon what she seems to be able to handle

so hopefully this is the worst of it

amelia apparently has the same infection that Elizabeth had last week
so
shes sick and is getting the same antibiotics they gave Elizabeth last week
other than that its the boring amelia show and the super exciting Elizabeth show

Worst theme park ride EVER

don’t be surprised if soon
i don’t have any hair

either from pulling it all out
or it turning gray and falling out on its own

I wish there was something i could do but
aside from Alyssa and i carrying each other through this…
theres nothing anyone aside from the doctors surgeons and nurses can do

we technically still have 24 hours to go before things are expected to calm down
statistically speaking we are told that about 70% of the time this happens
which does not mean that situation is any less critical than it is
most of it we were warned about ahead of time
which again
doesn’t make it any less critical
but hopefully
we are getting there
